"Slime Bomb" Injuries Have Healed, Prague Rocker Says
06/17/2003
The leader of an international rock band in Prague has recovered from injuries sustained when explosive stage effects for an antiwar benefit concert blew up in his face.
Blaq Mummery vocalist Rev. Verse Feedback was hurt in an explosion at his home March 6 while preparing stage effects for a "Make Slime, Not War" anti-war benefit concert. Suffering lacerations to the face and arms, he was treated and released from Prague's Vinohradska Hospital and performed the following evening at the concert, a benefit for the International Peace Movement of the Czech Republic.
While preparing a device that would use a chemical reaction to propel green ooze into the air, a glass container exploded and caused multiple lacerations to the singer's face and arms. He was treated at the Vinohradska Hospital, where he received several stitches to his mouth and cheek and was released. He was able to perform the following evening at the concert, which was a benefit for the International Peace Movement of the Czech Republic.
He has made a full recovery with only superficial scarring and minimal emotional damage, for which he is undergoing counseling.
Feedback denied that he was making a bomb and said the substances used could be found in any kitchen. "The location of the injuries might be symbolic," Feedback said. "God is telling me not to be cheeky and to stop mouthing off."
This is not the first time that an explosion has been associated with the band, known for their festive events. In their concert for Halloween 2000 at the Meloun Klub in Prague, a plastic bottle exploded onstage, causing damage to the club?s ceiling. Feedback claimed at the time that the unfiltered Czech wine called bur? had developed high pressure inside the bottle due to the overfermentation of active yeast particles for which the wine is known. The incident led to a police investigation and the banning of the band, then performing under the name Black Mummy, from appearing in the Prague 1 area.
Blaq Mummy would like to officially thank its supporters for their concern and well wishes.
"Look on the bright side. I still have three good cheeks left," said Feedback.
